You feel the signs of labor and know your little one is on the way – that’s great! But the last thing we need is to pack a last minute hospital bag. Thankfully, having one ready with all you need will make the whole process that bit easier.
The chances are you have already spoken about a birth plan with your midwife. It’s important to take this with you, so everyone knows your preferences in the delivery room.
Many mothers prefer to take a familiar robe as they prepare to give birth while others look forward to sweatpants and a sweater on the other side. As long as they’re loose and comfortable, then you’re good to go.
You don’t have to take everything you usually need for your daily routine, but a toothbrush and toothpaste, some shampoo and conditioner, and body wash will all come in helpful.
And we mean plenty of it. Maternity bras are a good idea for when you come home from the hospital while many mothers prefer to use disposable underwear during their time in the ward.
Of course, you will need something to restock your energy levels after giving birth. Plus, anyone traveling with you might get hungry while they wait. Therefore, a selection of snacks is a must for your hospital bag.
Something To Do
Although we have it all planned in our heads, sometimes our babies can take a long time to make their appearance. A tablet or magazines are likely to help pass the time and take your mind off things.
You might have yourself covered, but what about your baby? They will need an outfit to wear home from the hospital so be sure to pack it in with the rest of your things before you head off.
This can include items such as birthing balls or handmade blankets you have prepared for your new addition. They can make all the difference once in the delivery room.
Packing your hospital bag in advance can be one less thing to worry about as you prepare for the arrival of your new addition. Hopefully, this should keep you covered for everything you might need at the time.
